Watch the Game in Liberty

Posted on August 13, 2021 at 10:20 AM by Claire Rodgers

A last-minute hail mary, an unbelievable catch, the game-winning grand slam, the soaring three-point shot - all amazing displays of athleticism. There is just something about watching them unfold. We remember the comradery of fellow fans, the place, the food, and the collective breathe taken when we get to celebrate our team’s victory.

No matter what your sport is, Liberty has some of the best places to experience it. Check out these recommendations for restaurants and bars to watch the next big game.

MINKSY’S

While Minsky’s has locations across the Kansas City metro in both Kansas and Missouri, we can’t help but think their best location is right here in Liberty. Gourmet pizza is their thing. Come in and enjoy the local sports bar atmosphere or order your pizza and growler to-go. For the pepperoni lovers, make sure to try the Kelceroni! This delicious pizza was created by Chiefs Tight End, Travis Kelce, and a portion of the purchase price goes toward his charity 87 & Running which benefits Operation Breakthrough.

CATCH 22

Catch 22

This is the newest addition to the bunch. Catch 22 opened in October 2019, and quickly became a favorite of historic downtown Liberty. Their full menu and friendly atmosphere are just what you’re looking for on game day. Locals love the Philly Cheesesteak. Be sure to follow their Facebook page which has almost daily specials.

J&S PIZZA

JS

After a long week of work, you probably want a break. J&S Pizza is constantly running specials! They are just what you need when you want an easy, crowd (and kid)-pleasing dinner. On weekdays they have standing specials like Taco (Pizza) Tuesday (pictured above) and Wing Wednesday. When it’s time for the big game, take it easy and check out their full menu of pizza, salads, sandwiches, and pastas. The jalapeno popper pizza is another house specialty that is popular with the Liberty locals.

BOOZERS BAR & GRILL

Boozers

It’s the family-friendly, biker-friendly place with a hometown feel. Boozers features happy hour and game day specials that you won’t want to miss. Their menu has game time necessities, a variety of savory dishes, and even kid-approved favorites. You definitely want to try the fried tacos or house made cheesecake; both are signature specialties. BONUS - Boozer's is one of Liberty's best kept secrets for desserts.

WINGZ & MORE

Wingz

The place where wings are the thing. Wingz & More offers completely customizable wings! Choose your chicken, figure out how many, then pick your sauce, and/or rub. With this kind of variety, you can try something different each time you place an order to go. No one wants to watch a game at home without something tasty to snack on. But, if you’re not a wing lover, no problem, the “& More” is for you. Burgers, sandwiches, seafood, salad, and wraps make up the rest of this menu. There is something for everyone here.

Whether you’re surging with pride for your hometown (go Chiefs!), alma matter, or even a specific athlete, Liberty has a great selection of sports viewing destinations for you to enjoy. A few others to add to your list - The Landing, Corner Bar, Red Robin and Conrad’s Restaurant & Alehouse are all great options - there’s no shortage of game-watching spots in Liberty.

Plus, if you are wanting to sport the latest Kansas City sports gear, pro teams, college teams and even local high school merch, stop by Brant’s Clothing located in historic downtown Liberty.
