Every March, college basketball fans have one thing on their minds. March Madness!
The NCAA basketball competition features 68 teams in a single-elimination tournament, all competing to be named college basketball’s national champion. For the fans, the only thing more important than their team winning is constructing a successful bracket, predicting winners and eventually a champion.
The energy sweeps even minor fans into the competition and has inspired a little madness of our own.
The Visit Liberty Take Out Tournament is a single-elimination bracket used to determine which local restaurant is the fan favorite for take out. This year’s competition will consist of three rounds of mouth-watering competition to determine our local hero.
How Does It Work?
It all comes down to you and your tastebuds. Eight restaurants will face off in round one of the Takeout Tournament. You'll see last year's Champion, J&S Pizza, and 7 new competitors added to the mix!
Like other single elimination brackets, the winner from each matchup will advance to the next round until only one remains. The “Best Take Out in Liberty” champion will be announced on March 28!
You can cast your votes for the restaurant you prefer via Facebook and Instagram. Votes must be cast on either the Visit Liberty Facebook page or Instagram page during the voting period for each matchup. Please note votes cast on shared posts will not be counted.
Here’s a little something to whet your appetite. Once a victor is named, we will randomly select one lucky voter to win a $100 gift card to the winning restaurant!
Who’s Competing?
Round 1
The Visit Liberty team has chosen eight local restaurants for the tournament that have been matched at random. Will reigning champion J&S Pizza be able to defend last year’s title? Only time will tell.
Here is a list of our eight competitors and first-round matchups:
- J&S Pizza vs. Sorella's Deli
- Penguins Kitchen vs. Mi Hacienda
- Tasty Thai vs. Fuji Sushi
- Catch 22 vs. Boozers Bar & Grill
The first two weeks of the Take Out Tournament have been a success and we're off to Round 2!
The second round matchups will feature:
- J&S Pizza vs Penguin's Kitchen
- Fuji Sushi vs Catch 22
