Think of it as a simple, joyful way to connect with the people who share your streets, your parks, and your community. Food and music have a magic way of opening hearts, and this is our chance to celebrate what we share while looking ahead to our future together.
In 2026, our nation marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence—a moment that brought people together around a shared vision. What better way to honor that milestone than with a communal meal that invites us to slow down, share our stories, and appreciate the freedoms we enjoy?
Our goal is to have 100 potlucks spread throughout Liberty on Sunday, Sept. 27 and we need your help to host!!
FAQ: What to Know
- WHAT? Small, friendly neighborhood potlucks across Liberty coming together for an old-fashioned, feel-good gathering. Consider hosting your own by inviting families who live on your street. Encourage everyone to bring a meaningful family dish—something that carries a story. You’d be surprised how much you learn about someone over a shared recipe.
- WHEN? September 27, 2026. Hosts can plan a relaxed 2–3 hour gathering for people of all ages.
- WHERE? Think simple and welcoming—a kitchen, backyard, driveway, or neighborhood park works perfectly for a group of 10–20. Because it’s Fall Festival weekend, the city will not be issuing block party permits or setting barricades to block any streets or cul-de-sacs. If you plan to host your potluck at a park, please book the shelter in advance.
- HOW? It’s easy: spread the word, invite a few neighbors, or team up with someone across the street to co-host. When you sign up to host, you’ll get updates, a downloadable invitation postcard, and the America 250 in Liberty will provide a host pack including:
- name tags, commemorative cups, and utensils (pick up at the Liberty Community Center)
- commemorative signage delivered to your home at least two weeks before your event
- every guest will receive a $5 "fun money" coupon to use at any downtown Liberty shop or restaurant.
As a special thank you, all the hosts will be entered into a drawing for a downtown Liberty gift card good through December 2026.
